Cool Plus Size Maternity Clothes

Ever wondered why some women look better during their pregnancy while others look bored as soon as they hit four months? Sometimes there are some uncontrollable physical factors such as black spots and swollen feet but in most cases it is the choice of maternity clothes that matters. Plus size mothers tend to be the most affected because they have a harder time shopping and worse, not many plus size women know which clothes suite them most during pregnancy. Just to save you the trouble, follow the guide below of clothes that will not let you down if your are a plus size mom-to-be.
Wear empire waist maternity tops

Tops with empire waists will always feel comfortable to be in and they suite any plus size woman. You can choose to wear a collared one or one with a V-shape without collars. You also have the option of wearing an empire waist top that flatters your big bust or shows off a bit of cleavage.
Choose pants that fit in your belly

Plus size maternity pants look better when they fit well around the tummy and are a bit loose at the hips because the body looks more balanced. Choose a maternity pant which is elastic at the tummy area for comfort.

Wear light flowing gowns without layers or a bubble design
The best gowns for an expectant plus size mother are ones with an empire waist and without too many layers beneath. Wearing bubble dresses or layered maternity dresses might end up making you look a lot more bigger. The gown should however not fit too close to your body- a slightly loose fit is okay.
Get a few custom made dresses to suite your body
The other option would be to have custom made maternity dresses. In this case everything will depend on your taste and of course your body. Go for designs that flatter you and that bring out the best of your body. It is advisable to have them with an elastic material around the waist/ tunny area if you are still in the first trimester of your pregnancy so that you will adjust them all through.

How Should Pregnant Women Dress?

The major thing to look for in maternity clothes is comfort so that your pregnancy doesn't pull you back from having a good time at work or at any other time. During the first weeks you have more freedom with your choice of clothing because the baby bump is still quite small and quite invisible- you actually just feel heavy but if you look in the mirror you are not any big. Before five months you can wear clothes that hug your body a bit and show off your curves while they last  as long as they are comfortable.
After five months you are more careful with your choice of maternity dresses. It is advisable to wear loose fitting clothes that are comfortable at the waist. Go also for maternity clothes made of light fabrics when it's hot to avoid discomfort and heat related illnesses during pregnancy.
When shopping for maternity pants, always check that the waist is comfortable. An elastic waist is more preferable.Try also to wear colors that have a slimming effect on your body if you are a plus size; black is a good option but you can also choose brighter colors.
When the baby lump is big enough and conspicuous, it is better to match loose pants with a hugging top or vice-versa to avoid overemphasizing on your tummy. Take advantage of your bigger and fuller bust and wear clothes that show it off- a cool bust and a baby lump look wonderful together. Don't be afraid of showing off a bit.
Pregnant women should also consider fashion, trends and style besides the other factors named above when choosing clothes. You are free to wear fancy dresses that flatter your body or go for long flowing gowns which are sexy and at the same time descent. Most designers have a great collection for expectant mothers to choose from and sometimes if you are lucky enough you can enjoy good offers and discounts.
Other than dresses and pants, you can also invest in scarfs, leggings and accessories so to hide any discoloring or black spots around the neck or sore feet. Feel free to use as much make up as you require to get the look you desire because you need to feel good before you can look great.
